Many authors wrote articles discussing the meaning of the Oracle Bone inscriptions. It is very important to consult them. But we need to know what exactly the corpus of these existing inscriptions is.There are several well know catalogues or collections. But there are also some people who bought a few fragments either of turtle carapaces or of bovine shoulder blades (scapulas) with a few graphs engraved on them. One day they published an article an reproduced the inscriptions for the first time.

For the big catalogues we indicate the author and the date. But we give also a short description of the content. When an author indicated that the few inscriptions he describes are published for the first time, we also include that article as part of the “sources”. Of course we do not pretend to include all of them but the description of the 412 catalogues or articles of this book is the more complete presentation of the existing Oracle Bone inscriptions. It may be of some help for the study of these inscriptions.
